According to reports, two neonates in Brazil were administered Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination shots by negligence, and neonates had to be admitted to the healthcare facility.
The report further stated that instead of a combined immunising agent against diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), pertussis (whooping cough), and hepatitis B, a two-month-old girl and a four-month-old boy were each given a Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19. As a direct outcome, both infants experienced a severe reaction to the Pfizer inoculation and had to be hospitalised.
The healthcare professional who administered the immunisations was suspended till the outcome of an administrative inquiry.
