Karachi: The Sindh Health Department has taken a decision to purchase special gear and garments to facilitate the safe management of any potential Ebola virus patients.
According to Dr Khalid Sheikh, Special Secretary Public Health, 200 special safety garments will be purchased for safe, secure Ebola patient management. Officials at the World Health Organization were unable to provide the government with safety garments, which is why the Government has now decided to purchase them itself, independently.
Dr Sheikh stated that the concerned officials have been directed to issue tender for the purchase of 200 safety garments. On the recommendation of the World Health Organization, Dow University of Health Sciences administration has been contacted for the establishment of a well-equipped isolation ward for potential Ebola patients. WHO officials had also visited the University’s Ojha Campus for this purpose, and an isolation ward for Ebola patients will be established within the next three days.
