Washington: The government of the United States has declared Monkeypox a public health emergency due to a sudden rise in cases.

This decision has been finalized shortly after World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued an emergency high alert for Monkeypox following a worldwide rise in cases.

The states of New York, California and Illinois are considered states of emergency in the US since early August.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been more than 26,000 cases of Monkeypox in the US this year.

Health experts express concern of the emergency declaration of Monkeypox. WHO have cautioned the masses regarding the increasing mortality rate of the disease in children. Even though it is apparent that anyone can contract the disease, higher incidences have been recorded in homosexuals, specifically males indulging in intimacy with other males.

However, this disease is not sexually transmitted. The virus has been known to show signs of itchy, pimple-like painful rashes that spread across the body. Fever and malaise are also symptoms of this disease.
