KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has strongly condemned the brutal assault on two doctors by attendants in the hospital's emergency room.
In the incident, two doctors, Dr Marvi, Chief Medical Officer, and Dr Shehreyar, a House Officer, were physically attacked while attending to a patient late at night.
According to Dr Ammar Danish, President of YDA JPMC, the attack was unprovoked, with the attendants verbally abusing and physically assaulting the doctors.
"The safety of our medical staff is non-negotiable. We will not tolerate such acts of violence," says Dr Danish, demanding immediate action from the authorities to ensure the safety and security of all medical personnel.
YDA says that despite the gravity of the attack, the police failed to register a First Information Report (FIR).
Senior YDA members, including Dr Mehboob Noonari, Chairman YDA Sindh; Dr Mehran Shar, VP YDA Sindh; and others, were present at the police station in the early hours to press for swift action.
The YDA criticised the inadequate security at JPMC and called for immediate reforms, including the implementation of a "One Attendant, One Patient" policy, better security funding, more guards, and improved emergency response protocols.
