Lahore: A three membered bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, passed an order that prohibits private medical colleges from directly enrolling students.
This decision was passed while hearing a suo motu case regarding the admissions in medical colleges in Lahore.
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Registrar, Dr. Muhammad Waseem submitted a new admission policy to the court, according to which the admissions will now be made through a ‘centralised admission policy.’
During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, looked into the matter of admissions and charging of additional fees by private medical colleges. He remarked that admissions into private medical colleges will remain closed.
