DUHS draws flak over controversial word choice in admission forms

Karachi- A letter of warning, addressing the Vice Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), was recently released from the Sindh Chief Minister’s Secretariat calling out the DUHS Admin over their negligent attitude. The admission forms for D. Pharm and BS Biotechnology for session 2019-20 mentioned ‘Karachi’ separately from ‘Sindh’, insinuating that Karachi was a separate entity. The act caused harmed to the sentiments of many Sindh residents.

The notification present with Medical News, says, “Use of such poorly chosen words irks the sentiments of people of Sindh… and inflames their emotions…

“I am further directed to convey the displeasure of Honourable Chief Minister Sindh on this extremely unfortunate episode put in motion by the gross negligence and insensitivity of your administration. Such error from a Public institution is unacceptable.”

The letter further went on to advice care and vigilance so that such incidences are not repeated.

The same letter was also circulated within the Vice Chancellors of other universities of Sindh so caution is observes
