KARACHI: Kemari police have arrested a husband-and-wife duo involved in the kidnapping and sale of newborn babies, successfully recovering a kidnapped baby girl.
According to details, the arrest took place in the Pak Colony Bada Board area, where the couple was apprehended for abducting a newborn girl from a hospital in Sujawal. They had brought the baby to Karachi with the intent to sell her for 8 lakh rupees.
SSP Kemari Faizan Ali confirmed that the accused, identified as Shazia and Ijaz, have confessed to their involvement in selling newborn babies. The police are now investigating the extent of their trafficking activities.
In another significant development, progress has been made in the case of a woman's body found in a box in the Site Metroval area. Police have arrested the woman's friend, Irshad Ali, in connection with the murder.
SSP Investigation Azhar Javed stated that the woman was killed by her acquaintance, reportedly over suspicions. However, following a thorough investigation, the police gathered concrete evidence against the accused, which has been presented in court.
The police continue to make strides in both investigations, with further details expected in the coming days.
