BAHAWALPUR- It was recently stated by the Minister of State for Education, Training, Interior & Narcotics Control – Mr. Baleeghur Rehman that; The restoration of law and order, resolution of energy crisis, development of the economy and educating the youth are the foremost priorities of the current government of Pakistan.
According to media reports, the Minister has stated that; “We are working hard to implement policies devised for these priorities. We hope that a strong Pakistan will emerge as a result of these efforts.”
He addressed a laptop distribution ceremony at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur - held under the Prime Minister’s National Programme for Provision of Laptops to Talented Students. He stated that; the offensive against terrorists in North Waziristan and along the Afghan border and the operation in Karachi would help restore the economy.
He also said; the government is working on the Dasoo Dam and Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park to ease the power crisis. “The prime minister believes in the youth of the country and wants to utilize their potential for progress and prosperity.” The government has substantially raised the budget for the Higher Education Commission, increasing the funding by several times.
The Minister also stated that; “This year, Rs70 billion were allocated for the HEC. The Laptop distribution initiative will ensure a digital revolution in the country.” The Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme for the youth of Gilgit Baltistan, FATA region, Sindh, Balochistan and Southern Punjab were other examples of the government’s dedication for youth development.
He said the IUB had been provided with Rs860 million for various projects. The minister expressed his confidence in the vice chancellor’s vision for improving the university’s ranking from fifth to the first.
Earlier, VC of the university - Qaiser Mushtaq said that; Nearly 2,236 students have been provided with laptops under the scheme. The faculty and students are thankful to the prime minister for his support.
