ISLAMABAD: Despite the ongoing anti-polio campaigns, the spread of the polio virus continues across the country as officials have confirmed the presence of the polio virus in environmental samples from 12 districts, including two new ones -- Dera Ismail Khan and Bahawalpur.
In Sindh, poliovirus has been reconfirmed in environmental samples from Mirpur Khas, Karachi South, East, and Korangi. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the virus has been detected in Lakki Marwat and Peshawar, while in Balochistan, the affected districts include Osta Muhammad, Chaman, Quetta, and Mastung.
According to officials, the polio virus has now spread to 42 districts of Pakistan.
