SMH’s contract employees not paid salary

KARACHI- The contract employees of Karachi M2etropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Sobhraj Maternity Hospital are deprived of salary for the last three months.

According to sources, contract employees, who are working in different departments of the hospital, are facing mental agonies due to inordinate delay in releasing their salary by KMC.

The services of these employees, the sources added, were hired in 2010 on contract basis by KMC on fixed salary but their services could not be regularized due financial constraints.

The employees have been running from pillar to the post to get their salary but all their efforts in this regard have, so far, went in vain, the sources added.

Meanwhile, KMC director (Health & Medical Services), Dr Salma Ali Kausar on being contacted, said that the contracts of these employees had expired and administration had sent a request to the authorities concerned for the renewal of their contracts. 

She was, however, optimistic that these employees will get their salary shortly.
