KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has halted the promotion of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) Professor Dr. Kausar Abbas to Grade 20, sparking a legal dispute.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Zafar Rajput and Justice Adnan Chaudhry, issued the suspension following a petition filed by senior administrative officers Dr. Suleman and Dr. Yahya Tunio.
The petitioners, represented by renowned jurist Salman Talibuddin, alleged that Dr. Abbas, a Professor of Physiology, was unlawfully elevated to Grade 20 in Pharmacology by the Sindh health department, violating regulations.
The court’s decision underscores the need for transparency in promotions within public health institutions.
