SHCC seals 9,294 clinics across Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has ramped up efforts to ensure healthcare standards, sealing 9,294 clinics across Sindh from 2018 to November 2024. These clinics were found operating without proper authorization, violating health regulations.
Tackling illegal reopenings
Despite the crackdown, 3,989 clinics reopened unlawfully and were re-sealed by SHCC. This underscores the persistent challenge of regulating unauthorized healthcare facilities in the province.
Licensing of government health units
In a bid to streamline healthcare operations, SHCC has issued licenses to 639 government health units and hospitals over the same period. These licenses aim to promote adherence to healthcare standards across Sindh.
Complaint resolution progress
Since 2018, the SHCC has received 353 complaints related to healthcare services. While 244 cases have been successfully resolved, 107 remain under review, reflecting the commission’s ongoing commitment to addressing public concerns about healthcare practices.
Capacity building and training
SHCC’s efforts extend beyond enforcement to capacity building. The commission has provided training to:
  - 6,732 hospital staff
  - 2,646 clinic practitioners
  - 127 maternity home staff
  - 803 herbalists
  - 1,109 homeopathy professionals
  - 4,206 infection control personnel (ICP)
These training initiatives are part of SHCC’s strategy to elevate the quality of healthcare delivery in the province.
