Sindh Doctors Ittehad holds protest against Corruption

KARACHI- Under the banner of Sindh Doctors Ittehad (SDI), many doctors staged a protest demonstration at Karachi Press Club (KPC) against mismanagement, irregularities and corruption within the Health Department of Sindh.


The protesters carried banners and voiced out their points of concern, and urged the Government to take strict action against Health Department’s corruption.


They also highlighted the matter of regularization of doctors and other medical staff and implementation of health insurance policy for medical practitioners.  


The protesters were led by President, SDI, Dr Muhammad Ali Thalu, alongside, Dr Taj Zardari, Dr Nisar Shah, Dr Essa, Dr Kamal Ansari, Dr Shabbir Memon, Dr Suresh Kumar, Dr Zoya Iqbal,  Dr Hira, Dr Benazir and others.


General Secretary, Sindh Doctors Ittehad (SDI) Dr Shabbir Memon, added that, corrupt practices and bribery is widely seen within the Health Sector, which needs to be addressed and reformed on an urgent basis.


Moreover, he informed that, 400 doctors have not been regularized on their posts, due to which they are mentally and financially stressed.


Dr Shabbir further demanded of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Sindh Anti-corruption Department, to launch a crackdown against such practices.


The members of SDI would continue staging further protest demonstrations at Sindh Secretariat, until their demands are fulfilled by the Government of Sindh.
