Karachi: The construction work for the expanded section of Sindh Government Services Hospital, a ground plus three story building, is in its final phase and the project will be finished in a month.
Medical Superintendent, Services Hospital, Karachi, Dr Mahmood Qureshi, informed that the installation of a new CT scan machine has begun in the new building while Orthopedic Department and Laboratory will also be shifted to the expanded section.
He said construction work in the new building was started over four years ago with the aim to increase beds capacity in the institution and also to facilitate Sindh government employees. He said training of technicians and other staff has already begun to operate the CT scan machine while new Phaco machine will also be installed in the new building.
Dr Qureshi said another ground-plus three story building of Services Hospital was handed over to Prevention and Control Program for Dengue in Sindh (PCPD), Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP) and Chemical Examination Department of Sindh by Health Department Sindh thus expansion of Services Hospital has been delayed due to the abovementioned reasons.
He said some key specialist posts like Radiologist, Pathologist, Orthopedic Surgeon and Ophthalmologist have been lying vacant in the health facility. He said a summary has been forwarded to Secretary Health Sindh requesting to post doctors at the vacant posts.
