KARACHI-The mismanagement and irregularities are on the rise in
Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), as around two dozen nurse aides are working against their posts in the health facility.
The following Nurse Aides are backed by political parties working in different administrative posts in hospital, causing inconvenience for patients. The actual responsibilities of Nurse Aides are to look after the patients along with staff nurses and paramedical staff but fortunately they are working as security in-charge, night supervisor, pharmacist and account section.
The names of Nurse Aids who are working in various offices/departments of the hospital are; Abbas Ali Hassan (Medical Store), Ahsan Ali Kalhoro (Account Office), Alina Kanwal (Rehabilitation Centre), Amjad Ali (Personal Branch-II), Asghar Jaan(Medical-II (PA to Professor), Azam Mian (G & R Branch), Babu Lal (Surgical-IV( PA to Prof), Dilawar Amanat (G & R Branch), Mirza Javed (Steward Office), Mirza Shujjat Hassan (G & R Branch), M Abbasi (Steward Office), M Nadeem ( House Job Branch), M Rashid Paeds-I (PA to Prof), M Rizwan Domki (EEG Centre), Naeem Ahmed (Central Lab), Qamar Uddin ( Nursing Branch), Sabir Hussain (Medical Store), Sajjad Hussain (Nursing Branch), Shakil Ahmed (Skin OPD), Sher Khokhar (PA to AMS), Syed Naveed Mumtaz(TB Lab OPD) and Syed Sohhail Mumtaz (Skin OPD).
Sources said favoritism and political appointments have badly affected the performance of Sindh largest teaching hospital. The heads of departments have also been facing hardship to manage patients due to unavailability of Nurse Aides in wards.
Medical Superintendent,
Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Zulfiqar Siyal, said action against such elements has already started and Nurse Aides will be sent back to their actual positions very soon. He said explanation has been sought from staffs who are working against their posts in the hospital.
