LAHORE: During a recent inspection of the site of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology-II (PIC-II), Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered early completion of the facility currently under construction near the canal.
While reviewing construction progress, the CM examined ongoing works, including the installation of dry partition walls and HVAC systems, and highlighted the facility’s importance for reducing the patient load on the existing Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
She inspected construction quality and addressed issues related to the project.
The CM announced a comprehensive plan to expand cardiology services across all districts of the province.
She also noted the recent introduction of a card system for paediatric heart surgeries, which has facilitated life-saving procedures for hundreds of children.
Punjab Infrastructure Development Authority CEO Shah Mir Iqbal briefed the CM on PIC-II’s progress. She praised the team’s efforts and provided guidance on design improvements, stressing the importance of ensuring timely delivery of essential equipment.
The PIC-II, designed to accommodate 250 beds, will include hybrid operating theatres as well as emergency, surgical, medical, and intensive care units.
Reports indicate that over 90pc of the project’s grey structure has already been completed.
