KARACHI: Tree-cutting in Karachi, Pakistan, has prompted alarm from the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA).

Dr Qaiser Sajjad, President of Pakistan Medical Association

As Dr S.M.Qaisar Sajjad, Pakistan Medical Association (Centre) President, said, "We can't even calculate the losses."

There are numerous ways that trees benefit us, including absorbing and releasing carbon dioxide and oxygen; lowering temperatures; and improving the environment.

Instead of planting new trees to help cool the city and lessen the impact of rising temperatures, the authorities decided to remove the ones that had previously been planted.

On the other hand, other countries are waging major programs to plant trees and conserve wildlife.

As a result, the selective slaughter of trees is entirely unacceptable. "We must plant more trees in our cities and province to combat climate change" he urged.

Cutting trees is contributing to Climate Change

Climate change is being fought by a group of unsung heroes: trees

As well as being an important source of carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere, they also aid communities and ecosystems in their ability to cope with extreme weather.
According to him, they help prevent floods, lower the temperature of urban areas, improve public health by making people happier and healthier, and reduce pollution.

Dr Qaisar Sajjad urged the administration to cease cutting down trees right away in order to improve the environment in Karachi and reduce the spread of disease.
