As per data issued by the National Health Ministry, 2,193 healthcare workers were infected by the coronavirus, out of which 1,232 were doctors, 333 were nurses, and 628 included other support staff.
Twenty-three healthcare workers have died due to the viral infection in the country so far, while 789 have recovered from the ailment, 1,185 are in isolation at home, and 196 have been admitted to various hospitals.
The majority of the cases of the novel coronavirus infection among health professionals have been reported from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Baluchistan, while cases have also been reported from Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu Kashmir.
Officials further said that 645 health professionals had been infected with the COVID-19 in Sindh, out of which 503 are doctors, 48 are nurses, and 94 are paramedics and support staff.
Around 637 health professionals have been infected with COVID-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), out of which 296 are doctors, 112 are nurses, and 229 are paramedics and support staff.
Similarly, 400 have been infected in Punjab, including 138 doctors, 118 nurses, and 144 paramedics and support staff.
Officials said that 248 health professionals had been infected with the novel coronavirus in Baluchistan, including 184 doctors, four nurses, and 60 paramedics and support staff.
About 208 health professionals have been infected with the COVID-19 in Islamabad, out of which 99 are doctors, 48 are nurses, and 61 are paramedics and support staff.
Officials informed that 43 healthcare professionals in Gilgit Baltistan and 12 in Azad Jammu Kashmir have also tested positive for the coronavirus.
