IUB organises hands-on training workshop on Clinical Electrocardiography  

BAHAWALPUR: The Department of Physiology, Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) organised a 1-Day "1st National Hands-on Training Workshop in Clinical Electrocardiography (ECG)" at the Main Auditorium of Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus.

The workshop's essential learning outcomes were understanding ECG concepts and learning a step-by-step strategy to administer and interpret an ECG test for proper diagnosis in human and veterinary clinical practice.

Some of the workshop's objectives, according to Dr Umer Farooq, the workshop's chief organiser and Chairman, Department of Physiology, were to instil fundamental knowledge of ECG as a diagnostic tool in human and veterinary medical professions, to fully comprehend and disseminate the diagnostic approach of ECG for mainstream clinical indications/cardiac disorders both in human and veterinary discipline, and to raise awareness about ECG's diagnostic efficacy.

The workshop was the first of its type in Pakistan, and it provided hands-on training in live ECG for both humans and pets. The intended audience in Pakistan was medical students and instructors, academicians, and researchers involved in related parts of life sciences.

More than 50 people from 11 different universities and institutes registered themselves for this session.

The ECG workshop was split into two technical sessions and one practical session. Several well-known national electrophysiologists and guest lecturers spoke on various technical aspects of ECG. A few of the notables included Prof. Dr Habib Rehman, Dean Biosciences, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Prof. Dr Sohail Atta Rasool, Head of Department, Physiology, Quaid e Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur. 

The patron of the workshop Prof. Dr Khalid Mansoor, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, welcomed all participants and the guests. 

Dr Zia Ur Rehman, Assistant Professor, Physiology, who hosted the workshop, informed the delegates about the high frequency of cardiac problems in the Pakistani human and livestock populations. He also provided a complete description of the workshop's process.

In the limelight of this workshop, a colourful and exciting competition of models and academic posters prepared by the students were also organised.
