LAHORE: A woman tragically lost her life after falling from the second floor of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore.
According to initial reports, the woman, identified as Saima, was found sitting by a window in the FJ Block of the hospital before she suddenly fell to her death. Hospital authorities claim that she was not an admitted patient or an attendant but was suffering from mental health issues.
Saima was identified through an employment card that indicated she worked at the Bank of Punjab. However, the circumstances surrounding her presence in the hospital and the fall remain unclear.
Following the incident, the Punjab Health Minister, Khawaja Salman Rafique, took notice and ordered an immediate investigation. A special committee, headed by the Vice Chancellor and Medical Superintendent of the hospital, has been formed to determine whether it was an accident or suicide.
Meanwhile, Lahore police has initiated a formal inquiry.
The incident raises concerns about hospital safety protocols and mental health support facilities within medical institutions. Further updates will follow as the investigation unfolds.
