Edhi Foundation donates 20 million to burns centers

KARACHI: A 15th Anniversary Dinner 2020 was organized by the Friends of Burns Centre running the Karachi Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital. Edhi Foundation Chairman, Faisal Edhi was invited as the Chief Guest of the event. President, Friends of Burns Centre, Zahid Saeed, Patron-in-Chief, S M Munir, Abdullah Feroze, Fawad Atiq Bari, Senator Haseeb Khan, MPA Bilal Ghaffar, Farhan Hanif, Prof Saleem Mughal, and other eminent philanthropists, were also in attendance.

Faisal Edhi announced the donation of Rs20 million for the establishment of two new burns centers in Sindh at the event.

While addressing the audience, Faisal Edhi said that the Edhi Foundation was ready to support the Friends of Burns Centre for the establishment of two new burns centers, which should be built in Central and Northern Sindh.

Eidhi said, “Sindh has given us too much. Now it is our turn to serve its people. A large number of burn victims die during transportation, and there is an urgent need to establish new burns facilities in the Sindh province.”

Philanthropist Fawad Atiq Bari informed, “Around 150,000 people receive burn injuries annually in Pakistan out of which 15,000 die.” He said there was an urgent need to establish burns centers at a regional level to reduce the annual mortality rate due to burns injuries.

Zahid Saeed said that the Karachi Burns Centre was helping people to recover from cruel burn injuries by giving them state-of-the-art treatment facilities free of cost. He said, “Pakistan is facing an acute shortage of burn specialist doctors and nurses. There is no such facility in Pakistan like the Karachi Burns Centre, where all kinds of burn-related treatment facilities are available free of cost.”

S M Munir, in his video message, stated the importance and significance of Zakat that how it had influenced his life and helped him prosper in business. He requested all the philanthropists to come forward and support the Friends of Burns Centre.
