KARACHI- A delegation of Pakistani Medical Association (PMA) met with the coordinator of Prime Minister (PM) Imtiaz Shaikh regarding the ongoing killing of doctors in Karachi and threats extortionists.
The delegation comprising of President PMA Karachi Prof Muhammad Idrees Adhi, Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr Nisar Shah and Dr Khair Muhammad Narejo met with coordinator of Prime Minister Imtiaz Shaikh regarding the target killing of doctors in Karachi.
The delegation apprised to Imtiaz Shaikh the current situation that 59 doctors have been killed since 2010, hundreds of doctors received threatening calls and emails from a group working abroad for paying protection money. As a result of this situation around 3000 doctors have left the country and many more are thinking the same way.
The delegation requested to Imtiaz Shaikh to raise his voice in support of the doctors demand, which are; support money of Rs10 million for all the victims of the target killing, arms licenses to all doctors with exemption to carry the arms during the imposition of section- 144, culprits of these crimes should be brought to justice and their cases referred to newly established military court for speedy justice and all doctors should be provided an effected security.
Coordinator of Prime Minister (PM) Imtiaz Shaikh gave the delegation a patient hearing and promised to help in whatever way possible.
