LAHORE: The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) officials claimed to have seized 1,270 kilograms of plastic shopping bags with a density of less than 75 microns, manufactured in violation of a ban imposed by the Punjab government.
According to EPD Assistant Director Hameed Akhtar, departmental teams have inspected 871 shops since June 5 and fined shopkeepers found violating the ban.
Mr Akhtar added that inspections are being conducted daily to enforce the provincial government's orders, highlighting that plastic contributes significantly to environmental pollution.
He added that all out efforts are being made to ensure a pollution-free environment for the people of the province.
