KARACHI: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) provided flood-affected residents in Dadu and Khairpur with relief supplies. The afflicted households received a hygiene package, tarpaulin sheets, blankets, mosquito nets, and a family-sized tent, presented by the Chairman of the PRCS, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari.

Speaking on occasion, Sardar Shahid Laghari, Chairman of PRCS, stated that the Pakistan Red Crescent had assisted thousands of flood-affected families, particularly in inaccessible regions. This would continue until no more victims are permitted. Moreover, this is the third distribution in District Dadu, he noted. Since August 28, the Pakistan Red Crescent has provided more than 15,000 gallons of clean drinking water per day to over 2,000 flood-affected persons in Johi Taluka, Dadu district, according to the Chairman.

In the second phase, he added, PRCS will give shelter and a means of subsistence to the most vulnerable flood-affected individuals in Pakistan. The Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent has pledged that the organization will continue its efforts till every victim has been rehabilitated.

Raffique Ahmed Jafferi, Senior Vice Chairman of PRCS-Sindh, stated on this occasion that we are facing the worst disaster in our nation's history and that the Red Crescent's management, staff, and volunteers are working around the clock to reach flood victims and distribute relief supplies to those in need in the 12 most vulnerable districts.

He noted that PRCS is already deploying additional mobile health units, establishing other water purification facilities, and providing portable water filters, date bars, and nutrition supplement sachets to flood-affected households.
