KARACHI- The management of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has rejected the rumors circulating about privatization of the state-of-the-art cardiovascular diseases institute, and said that NICVD would remain a Sindh Government entity in future too.

“The news stories and rumors about privatization of NICVD are false and baseless, and aim to misguide the people of the country. The fake and baseless news has created unrest among thousands of patients as well as the employees of the hospital”, the NICVD spokesman said.

The spokesman added that few media sections had reported that NICVD would be made as a Trust like Liaquat National Hospital, and it will run as a private hospital. However, there is no truth in such kind of news because NICVD is performing its best and it would continue to serve the nation being a part of Sindh government.

The Sindh Government as well as the Executive Director of the NICVD strongly rejected such news which are based on faulty assumptions, the spokesman said, and assured that the state-of-the-art only cardiac hospital would provide free of cost services to millions of people, and there is no plan under consideration to privatize it.

The NICVD, under the dynamic leadership of its executive director Prof Dr Nadeem Qamar, has performed outstandingly in a short span of time. Its services include free OPDs to major heart surgeries, the establishment of eight Satellite Centers in the province (in just one year time), seven Chest Pain Units in Karachi alone, adoption of latest TAVI method of treatment and artificial heart implantation in the country.

“Some anti-social elements who do not want to see this (NICVD) as the best institute have started negative propaganda against the hospital. However, the management of the hospital resolves to continue the hard work, and serve the poor people of the province as well the whole country”, the spokesman concluded.
