Murder charges added to case of Nashwa's death

Karachi- Section 302 (Murder) has been added to the FIR in the death of a minor, Nashwa, at Darul Sehat Hospital due to negligence. 

9 mo old Nashwa Ali passed away on April 22 after suffering from the consequences of injection of an  incorrect dose of drugs at the hospital on April 7, which damaged her brain and left her paralyzed.

The case’s challan has been submitted to a city court in Karachi. Doctors and hospital staff are among 25 witnesses named in the challan.

The progress report will be submitted in the court on May 11th.

Nursing assistant Agha Moiz has confessed to administering an incorrect injection to Nashwa. A higher than required dose was given and instead of administering it via the drip he gave it through the cannula, causing Nashwa to suffer brain damage.

Thirteen people have been nominated in the FIR and five in jail. Dr Attiya and two doctors have been declared absconders while two hospital owners have obtained bail.
