KARACHI: A heated confrontation at Jinnah Hospital Karachi has sparked serious concerns over workplace conduct in healthcare settings, as a dispute between a male doctor and a male nurse allegedly escalated to verbal abuse and an attempted slap.

The incident occurred in the Special Ward, where the doctor approached the nurse regarding the care of an admitted patient. According to reports, during the exchange, tensions flared, leading to the doctor allegedly hurling offensive language and attempting to slap the nurse.

In response, the Young Nurses Association (YNA), Jinnah Hospital Unit, has demanded a transparent investigation into the incident and a formal apology from the doctor involved. They have condemned the disrespectful behavior, calling it unacceptable and a violation of professional ethics in healthcare.

Rising Questions Over Patient Management

Adding to the controversy, the nursing staff raised a critical question regarding the patient’s treatment. They revealed that the patient in question had undergone surgery at a private hospital, yet was being treated post-operatively in the special ward of Jinnah Hospital.

“Why is a patient, operated on privately, receiving post-surgery care in a public facility like Jinnah Hospital's Special Ward?” questioned the nurses, pointing towards potential misuse of public healthcare resources.
