He issued these directives to the Health Minister, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, and VC, Dow University, during a recent visit to the hospital. Minister Health, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, accompanied the Chief Minister on the visit.
Shah visited the 50-bed hospital, which has a 6-bed ICU and a High Dependency Unit. He visited every ward and personally witnessed the operation of the radiology department, ventilators, oxygen systems, and IT units.
It may be noted that the Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has converted the Dow University Dental Hospital into the Infectious Disease Hospital by injecting the necessary funding and staff.
The Chief Minister directed the Health Department to post well-trained healthcare staff in the hospital and make it functional soon. “This hospital will be of great help in treating COVID-19 patients, even if some of them only need oxygen or ventilator support. This is the best facility that offers complete health care and service to COVID-19 patients,” he said.
The CM said that within the next 15 to 20 days, a 200-bed hospital at NIPA would start functioning to cater to COVID-9 patients. “We have managed to establish separate healthcare facilities for the corona patients in Karachi, and we will be expanding it in every divisional headquarter soon,” he said.
