HIV/AIDs upsurges in Pakistan

KARACHI: According to the statistics, 200,000 people in Pakistan were reported with HIV/AIDs in Pakistan. 

Dr Sharaf Ali Shah, Executive Director, Bridge Foundation, unearthed the statistics at the recent seminar held at a local hotel on World AIDS Day. 

Dr Sharaf Ali Shah highlighted the pertinent responsibility of the government to restrict the prevalence of AIDS in Pakistan. He stated Bridge Foundation is trying its level best to cater for the concerns of HIV/AIDs patients. Nonetheless, the government should also become a part of this noble cause. 

He spotlighted the problems and remedies available to the patients of HIV/AIDs. However, he claimed that inconsistency of people for taking therapeutic drugs could engender a perilous situation. 

Prof. Dr Rafiq Khanani said statistics showed Pakistan ranked above many countries in the prevalence of HIV/AIDs. He bewailed about the fruitless efforts to limit HIV/AIDs in the country owing to COVID-19. Moreover, he proposed a comprehensive stratagem needed to control the spread of HIV/AIDs from Pakistan.  

The seminar was also addressed by the Syed Rizwan Mustafa, Waheed Khan Khattak, Muhammad Rehan Khan and others. 

The seminar was attended by numerous HIV/AIDS patients and other members of the community in which Mazhar Anjum, Sadiq Shah, Imtiaz Bano and special guests were Syed Khadim Ali Shah, Dr Ashraf Mubeen, Dr Muhammad Naeem, Dr Afshan, Dr Farheen Ali, Muhammad Omar Abro, Dr Iqtdar Ahmed, Dr Naveed Bhutto, Dr Lala Aftab, Wajid Ali, Nafees Ahmed Khan, Chairman, Social Forum, Najia Durrani, Masood Ahmed Wasi, Nadia Farukh and others were present.
