Third monkeypox case confirmed in KP

PESHAWAR: The third case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a 51-year-old man who returned to Pakistan from abroad tested positive for the virus.
A health ministry spokesperson says that mpox symptoms were detected in two passengers during screening at Bacha Khan Airport in Peshawar and both were promptly isolated by Border Health Services staff.
He says the samples of both passengers were sent to the Peshawar Reference Public Laboratory at Khyber Medical University, where one of them tested positive for mpox.
Saying that the affected passenger, a Peshawar resident, had recently traveled to some Gulf countries, he adds that efforts are on to trace his contacts.
