Seven Ambulances Out Of Order at Ruth Pafau CHK

About seven ambulances of the Dr Ruth Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi, have gone out of order for several months and no attempt has been made so far by the hospital administration to get them repaired, sources from CHK have reported.


Due to negligence in repair and maintenance has resulted in the absence of this essential emergency service to the patients who need urgent transportation to receive emergency medical assistance.



He informed that there are 14 ambulances in the hospital to facilitate patients out of them seven are out of order. He said that now only four  high-roof ambulances and one  Suzuki Pickup is used for transportation of patients while two  ambulances are using by officials.


He said these operational ambulances also required some repair maintenance on urgent basis. He informed that two- Mercedes, four high –roof and one toyot ambulance is standing idle in the hospital.


He said patients' attendants are facing immense problems in shifting their seriously ill patients from Civil Hospital Karachi to other hospitals of the city due to absence of ambulances.


He said although funds are available for the repair of ambulances but due to DDO power issue the Medical Superintendent is unable to release funds for maintenance of ambulances.


Medical Superintendent, Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Tahir Aziz Sheikh, said eight out of order ambulances had been made operational few days ago while administration requested provision of six new ambulances from Sindh government for transportation of patients.


He said all out of order vehicles would be made operational every soon as there was no shortage of funds in hospital.
