Nursing colleges - Five officials accused of using political clouts removed

Karachi: Sindh health department has removed five grade 18 officers from their current posts as they had allegedly managed to get lucrative positions in diferent nursing institutions by using their political clouts and in violation of rules.

The officials who have been removed from their current postings and asked to report to health department include controller of Sindh Nursing Examination Board, Khair-un-Nisa; principal of School of Nursing, Hyderabad, Pathan Khan; principal of School of Nursing, Khairpur Ghulam Fatima Shar; principal of School of Nursing, Jamshoro, Rehmatullah, and chief nursing superintendent of Civil Hospital, Karachi, Rubina John, the sources said, adding that a notification in this regard has also been issued by the health department.

Sources in the provincial Directorate of Nursing said that all these officers were initially posted in the College of Nursing, Jamshoro, as clinical instructors, but they managed to get  lucrative posts by using their political clouts in violation of rules.

Meanwhile, director (Nursing) Surriya Memon has been given additional charge of controller of Sindh Nursing Examinations Board.

Sources further said that a planned meeting of departmental promotion committee for considering promotions of nursing cadre had been postponed again reportedly due to `uncalled for’ interference of health department’s senior officials.
