Karachi: Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said here that a strategy was being evolved for providing better treatment facilities to those who might suffer from heatstroke during the fast-approaching summer when heat waves are expected to hit Karachi and other parts of the province in the wake global climatic changes.
Speaking at a news conference along with Sindh Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro at the Sindh Assembly’s Committee Room, he said that the government with a view to preventing people from the effects of scorching heat in the ensuing summer will shortly take all stakeholders on board for devising a comprehensive strategy.
Recalling that a significant number of citizens had died of searing heat during last summer in Karachi, the minister told newsmen that consultations are under way with Commissioner Karachi, heads of public sector hospitals, officials of education department and representatives of non-governmental organizations for chalking out a strategy aimed at handling heatstroke patients in a much better way.
Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro said preparations are afoot to minimize ratio of deaths this year through improved public awareness.
