ISLAMABAD: Islamabad administration has been ordered to remain vigilant against the threat of dengue fever amid the ongoing monsoon rains by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The minister ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, to ensure the implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of dengue.
Mr Naqvi ordered immediate drainage of water from low-lying areas, saying the dengue prevention plan must be executed meticulously.
He warned that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated. He also instructed that hospitals and laboratories in the city be contacted to collect data on dengue cases to ensure a coordinated response.
Mr Randhawa briefed the minister on the ongoing measures to prevent the spread of dengue, saying a working group is being established to address the issue in the border areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
He assured that the administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi will collaborate to implement dengue prevention measures throughout the current monsoon season.
To date, nine cases of dengue fever have been reported in Islamabad.
