NICVD to Introduce Artificial Device for Heart Failure Patients

KARACHI- National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has planned to introduce artificial devices for patients with acute heart failure. Such devices will be ready for implantation, from July 2018, absolutely free of cost.

Executive Director, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Prof Dr. Nadeem Qamar stated that, NICVD in collaboration with Sindh Government, has extended cardiac care facilities all over Sindh. A total number of 7 chest pain units are operating throughout Karachi, and more chest pain units, alongside satellite centers are being established in different cities of the province, in order to provide excellent cardiovascular services to the people of Sindh.

He further revealed regarding the usage of the artificial small device that will be implanted in the chest of the patients suffering from acute heart failure. It will continually monitors the heart's rhythm and would aid in saving many precious lives, with easy accessibility, all free of charge.

Prof Dr. Nadeem Qamar also stated that, NICVD’s efforts are underway to make this cardiac care facility, the world’s best cardiac hospital in future.

Moreover, he discussed that a team of experts from America will be training paramedics and other staff to handle the artificial heart device implantation, also to further enhance their clinical skills and capacity to manage cardiac patients.
