MN Report

KARACHI- Medico-Legal Officers (MLOs) posted at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Monday last boycotted duties in protest against poor security arrangements and inadequate working facilities.

Senior MLO at the CHK, Dr Nisar Ali Shah, told media persons that MLOs, who have been discharging their duties in the absence of basic facilities at the hospital, since long, had no choice but to boycott their duties to lodge their protest. “No proper office, furniture and examination table are available for MLOs at the hospital,” he added.

He also deplored that the CHK administration despite repeated requests has failed to provide them proper facilities.

He warned that if the CHK administration failed to resolve their genuine demands, the MLOs will be compelled to continue their protest.

He also accused police surgeon of dilly-dallying in providing allowances and other facilities to the MLOs.

He demanded of the government to establish Medical Legal Directorate for MLOs, provide facilities and allowances.

He also alleged that CHK’s medical superintendent was not providing basic facilities to the MLOs at their workplace.
