KARACHI- The faculty members of KMC-controlled Karachi Medical & Dental College (KMDC) are deprived of their salary for the last three months.
Sources said over 100 faculty members of KMDC, including professors, associate professors and assistant professors, have been facing financial problems as they have not received salary since April 2015.
Sources said that though the KMDC’s grade 1 to 16 employees have been receiving their salaries regularly, faculty members and other grade 17 and above officials have not been paid salary during last three months.
Meanwhile, the KMDC’s faculty members have reportedly threatened the KMC administration that if their salary issue was not resolved forthwith, they will have no choice but to boycott duties at the college as well as its teaching hospital, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Sources claimed that such a situation had arisen following KMC cut the KMDC’s grant.
KMC’s senior director (Medical Services) Dr Salma Kausar was not available for comment.
