KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Information, Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that protesting young doctors had announced to end their strike following successful negotiations.

Flanked by Dr Peer Manzoor and Dr Ahmed Sultan at the Sindh Assembly, Wahab addressed the media quoting that the health department had agreed to the genuine and bona fide demands of the protesting young doctors and decided to open all hospital OPDs.

Sindh doctors will not be granted the same allowances as doctors in Punjab. The top priority of the government is to provide relief to the patients. The Sindh government has established state of the art health institutions in the province like NICVD and Gambat Institute of Health Sciences which are providing world class health services to the underprivileged from not just Sindh but from all over Pakistan.

In response to a question, Wahab stated that health professionals came under the class of essential services. Furthermore, the doctor’s representatives were asked to devise a mechanism that would avoid strikes in the future. As a gesture of goodwill, the doctors decided to serve 14 hours instead of 12 voluntarily
