Moot on “Translational Medicine” begins at Ziauddin varsity

Karachi: Ziauddin University in collaboration European Society of Translational Medicine (EUSTM) organized a three-day international conference titled “Translational Medicine: From Discovery to Health Care” at its Clifton campus. 

Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of the conference, prominent scientist and former federal minister Prof Dr Atta-ur-Rehman presented an overview of advances in translational medicine technology.

In his welcome address, Ziauddin University’s vice chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim commended the role of Prof Rehman in promoting higher education in the country.

Ziauddin University’s Dean (Research) Dr Nikhat Ahmed Siddiqui said that the conference has provided a platform to the eminent and brilliant minds in the realm of translational medicine for presenting their findings and swap ideas for implementing proven strategies for treatment and prevention.

The first session of the conference covered a number of fascinating and hot topics, enlightening the attendees with the current and future status of translational medical research.

Others who spoke in different sessions of the conference included Pakistan Council for Science and Technology’s chairman Dr Anwar-ul-Hassan Gilani, Prof Gotfried Kohler from University of Vienna, Prof Aamir Shahzad, Prof Dr Iqbal Choudhary, Prof Dr Nassar Ahmed and Prof Dr Umar Daraz Khan.

Earlier, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Ziauddin University and EUSTM, thereby opening doors for international collaborations and exchange of technology.
