Thar: Health Department Sindh has requested the World Health Organization (WHO) to establish nutrition Stabilization centers at three taluka level hospitals in Thar district in order to put an end to mortalities in the drought hit areas.
According to WHO sources, the Health Department Sindh has sent a letter to the WHO requesting coordination for the establishment of nutrition stabilization centers. These centers would be set up in three talukas hospitals of district Thar including Diplo, Nagarparkar and Chachro. WHO will take charge of training the staff, and providing nutrition support and medicines at these centers.
Sources confirmed that WHO has started paper work to establish nutrition centers in these taluka hospitals on the request of the health department. Sources further stated that WHO-run nutrition stabilization centers are already functioning in Mithi area of Thar in collaboration with the provincial health department. The establishment of these centers will significantly improve neonatal health in the region.
