Ebola update: Blood samples of suspected patient taken by WHO

KARACHI, Dec 02: A joint team comprising National Institute of Health and World Health Organization took blood samples of Ebola virus suspected patient at JPMC and test report would be released within ten days.

According to health department Sindh sources, a 46-year-old passenger Haroon arrived in Karachi from Liberia via Doha and was suffering from fever. The patient was admitted in Isolation Ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center suspected of Ebola hemorrhagic fever.

Dr Seemi Jamali Joint Executive Director, JPMC when contact informed that WHO team has taken blood samples and the report is expected to be released within ten days.  She said patient will be kept under observation in the isolation ward till report is received.

A health department Sindh official on condition of anonymity said data of medical team and airport staff who may have come in contact with the suspected patient has also been collected. They would be closely monitored for at least 21 days to rule out any possibility of Ebola symptoms.
