KARACHI: The mobile unit of Aga Khan University was the first healthcare team to reach the flood-ravaged village of Buhryoon in district Matiari, treating 247 residents.

In addition to the daily visits of three mobile units to different locations, AKU teams also provide medical care at camps for displaced persons established by the Government and the Pakistan Army in Matiari, Thatta, Dadu, Badin, and Lasbella.

As part of the Aga Khan Development Network's overall activities in Pakistan, AKU teams coordinate their efforts with the local authorities in each area and the Aga Khan Health Services, Pakistan.

Dr Sulaiman Shahabuddin, president of Aga Khan University, stated that the university and its hospitals would like to express their sympathy to the nation and offer all the assistance they can offer based on their expertise in healthcare.

He noted that AKU has also established a flood response fund with contributions from faculty, staff, students, alums, and other supporters to assist people in need.
