84 new dengue cases reported, total reaches 1,255 this year

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi has reported 84 new confirmed dengue cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases this year to 1,255, according to data released by the District Health Department on Monday. Currently, 174 patients are receiving treatment at allied hospitals across the city.
While the death toll remains at five, hospitals are giving special attention to those seriously affected by the mosquito-borne disease.
The report indicates that Pothohar Town's peri-urban areas accounted for the highest number of new cases, with 47 reported in the last 24 hours. Additionally, 14 cases were recorded from Rawalpindi Cantonment Board areas, 3 from Chaklala Cantonment, and 13 from Municipal Corporation jurisdictions.
Authorities are continuing to crack down on dengue control violations. Since January 2024, fines totaling Rs. 16,839,000 have been imposed for violations of dengue prevention SOPs, including improper larva detection.
