LAHORE: Major cities in Central Punjab are grappling with harmful smog due to poor air quality, prompting the Punjab government to impose a green lockdown in Lahore and surrounding districts.
Lahore has been identified as the second most polluted city in the world, following New Delhi, which ranks first for poor air quality. Although there has been a slight reduction in pollution due to changes in wind speed and direction, the Punjab government remains committed to stringent measures to combat smog.
As part of the green lockdown, schools for special children have been instructed to conduct classes online, and many offices are mandated to implement remote work. Additionally, a complete ban on construction activities has been enforced in affected areas, along with a prohibition on motor rickshaws.
