Two doctors recently died due to the coronavirus, Dr Sana Fatima from Lahore and Dr Zubair Ahmed from Quetta. A few days back, Dr Naeem Agha, died in Quetta after falling victim to the virus. All these doctors were frontline soldiers in the war against the coronavirus.
We condole the sad demise of these doctors. Being frontline soldiers, doctors face the greatest threat in terms of virus exposure. Coronavirus positive cases in doctors are rapidly increasing. They are going into isolation, which is causing a shortage of doctors in the hospitals.
We have been continuously raising our voice for the protection of doctors. We have written letters to the Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Ministers of all provinces. Unfortunately, there are flaws due to which doctors are suffering, the PMA noted.
Now, after the end of the lockdown, businesses have resumed, and in these circumstances, COVID-19 cases and the subsequent death toll are increasing day by day. With the increasing number of patients, the government should increase the facilities in the hospitals. The quantity of trained staff, beds, ventilators, C-pap, and Bi-pap, should be increased at all coronavirus designated hospitals.
The situation is worsening day by day for healthcare workers, so we once again request all the concerned authorities to take appropriate steps to protect the frontline soldiers. The government, doctors, political parties, and religious parties should play their roles to aware the masses about adopting all the required preventive measures to avoid the further spread of the coronavirus.
