ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq inaugurated the "She Power: Women's Health Kits Project" aimed at providing better healthcare facilities for women of Balochistan, at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, according to a press release.
Addressing the audience as chief guest, the NA speaker said, "Healthy and educated women and children are the cornerstone of a strong and progressive society."
He said the women’s well-being has always been his top priority and praised the Chinese Government's initiative to address women's health and hygiene issues in Balochistan.
Mr Sadiq described the project as evidence of the enduring friendship and continuous cooperation between Pakistan and China. He thanked the Chinese Embassy for their support in enhancing the development and well-being of Balochistan's people, particularly women.
Reiterating his commitment to the health and wellness of women and children, the speaker highlighted several initiatives taken in his tenure, including the reconstitution of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on gender equality, quality education, and health.
He also mentioned his ongoing support for the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, the organization of the National Parliamentary Meeting on Malnutrition of Mother & Child, and the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights.
Mr Sadiq recalled President Xi Jinping’s visit in 2013, noting the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China, characterized by mutual respect, trust, and cooperation.
He lauded the expansion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to include socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, agricultural, and industrial cooperation, commending the high-quality execution of CPEC projects in Balochistan and their significant economic and social benefits.
The speaker underscored the importance of empowering young girls and youth in Balochistan for long-term peace and stability, stressing that providing education, health resources, and growth opportunities would enable them to become active and informed members of their communities.
The NA speaker also appreciated China for its ongoing cooperation and joint efforts to bring peace and progress to the region and beyond, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to strengthening its friendship with China.
